March 20th: Charlotte Bruce of Olney College will discuss her experiences with AskAway and her incorporation of the Qwidget into Olney's services. She is one of the first Qwidget adopters in IL and will (I'm sure) have wisdom to share with those that are ready to build a Qwidget!
Ellen Schmid and Lynnette Singh of Geneva Public Library will discuss Practitioner to Practitioner Iming and Transferring questions while monitoring
AskAway IL post grant information (tentatively scheduled)

February 21: Thank you to AskAway WI for hosting and providing this information:

John Dey of the Racine Public Library will be our featured speaker on February 21st. He'll be talking about his work as a QuestionPoint backup librarian, and sharing information on the expectations placed on backup librarians, how they operate, and any tips and tricks he's picked up on juggling multiple questions as a backup librarian.

I currently offer two types of AskAway training sessions:

**Basic Training** :
This three hour training session offered virtually will instruct the participating librarians how to conduct e-mail, chat and the Administration portion of the virtual reference program using OCLC's QuestionPoint 24/7. At the conclusion of this session, participants will receive their authorization/password and have the skills ready to start the service in their own library.

**Policy/Profile page completion training**:
This one hour training session offered virtually will give libraries already participating in AskAway an opportunity to complete their policy and profile page

ZabaSearch--An excellent tool for finding hard-to-find phone numbers is http://www.zabasearch.com. It peruses public records for possible matches. Be aware, however, that it often finds previous addresses or finds previous residents of that address. Still, it can be useful, especially for the reunion-search folks!--Bill Pardue, bpardue@ahml.info

Make sure you date your entry and add your name and e-mail!

--Blinking chat screen--If you get a blinking chat screen and you can't enter any chat messages, the quickest thing is to first try simply refreshing your browser. You'll have to reselect your queues, but the session will still be there waiting for you. If that doesn't work, simply close the chat window (with the "x") and then clear your cache. Then re-enter chat, select your queue and then go into the "My Active" tab to click on your patron. This still should take less than 20 seconds or so.--Bill Pardue, bpardue@ahml.info.
